Welcome to the first day of the Educators Rising Conference! Student competitions start at 1 p.m. If today isn’t your day to compete, consider cheering on your fellow students. The following competitions are open to spectators:
- Creative Lecture (Grouper and Bluegill rooms)
- Educators Rising Moment (Anemone and Damselfish)
- Public Speaking (Fantail and Cobia)
Check out the College and Innovation Fair from 1 – 5 p.m. in Atrium C/D. Chat with representatives from colleges, universities, and organizations that can help you get one step closer to becoming an educator. Make sure to scan QR codes to help you win the scavenger hunt.
At 7:15 p.m., head over to Oceans Ballroom for the opening general session. The keynote speaker is Kurt Russell, the 2022 National Teacher of the Year. He will inspire you with his story on the importance of classrooms that better reflect the students within them — by offering a curriculum that reflects their backgrounds and identities and having a more diverse teaching profession.
Download and use the conference app to see hotel maps and room numbers, schedule changes, scavenger hunt information, and to send messages to your fellow student conference goers.
