Why is there a free magazine in your conference bag? Kappan magazine is published by PDK International, the parent organization for Educators Rising. Since 1916, Kappan (also known as Phi Delta Kappan) has helped educators get better at their jobs by sharing important education research, debates about education policy, and ideas for improving education practice. You can read a limited number of articles each month at kappanonline.org.
Kappan is a benefit of membership in PDK International’s professional association. Professional, graduate student, senior, and life members receive print issues in the mail eight times a year and can read all online articles. PDK also offers a digital-only membership for those who want online access only.
Educators Rising teacher leaders use the magazine to spark discussions with their students and to keep up with the latest thinking in education. To help, PDK offers a discussion guide connected to each issue of Kappan for all Educators Rising members. Log in to your membership portal and visit the monthly discussion questions page to see past discussion guides.
On Sunday at 11 a.m., PDK’s director of programs, Anne Matthews Morris, will be leading a session on how to use the Kappan discussion guides in your chapter or course. Bring your copy of Kappan to the session to learn more!
Want more Kappan? As part of the conference, we’re making a discounted professional membership available for all conference attendees.
