Good luck to all our student competitors. Competitions are from 8 a.m. to noon today. If you’re free, consider cheering on your fellow students. The Educators Rising Moment (Congress and Mint) is open for spectators.
There’s one more chance to help with the Educators Rising book drive for Martha’s Table by sorting and counting donated books. Students who sign in will receive community service hours. The project will be going from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. in Dogwood.
Sessions continue this morning. Use the conference app to browse the topics and speakers for sessions at 9 a.m., 10 a.m., and 11 a.m.
This afternoon is your time to explore Washington, D.C. Many attractions, including the Smithsonian museums, are free of charge. Note that the Smithsonian’s Folklife Festival will be taking place through Monday, July 1, on the National Mall with free performances, workshops, demonstrations, and other activities. For a listing of free attractions and events during your conference downtime, check out Washington, D.C.’s 100+ Free Things to Do. Also, visit the Big Bus Tours site to receive a special discount of 25% off their city tours for conference attendees.
While you are touring in our nation’s capital, make sure to take some potential award-winning photos for the Educators Rising Photo Contest. To enter, share a photo in the conference app with the hashtag #AaADC and the photographer’s name and school. The deadline for submitting your chapter’s photo entry is 9 p.m. (Just one entry per person, please.)
