Every great educator remembers the moment someone believed in them.
In 2026, you have the opportunity to be that person for the next generation of teachers.
PDK International is seeking volunteers to serve as judges at the 2026 Educators Rising National Conference, taking place at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland, Oregon. Our official call for judges opens February 1, 2026, and we invite educators, university faculty, college students, and professionals from education-adjacent fields to lend their expertise to an unforgettable experience.
Educators Rising national competitions are performance-based events where middle school, high school, and collegiate students demonstrate real teaching skills: lesson planning, instructional delivery, leadership, collaboration, and professionalism. These are not hypothetical exercises. Students show up ready to teach, reflect, and lead.
As a judge, you’ll provide constructive feedback and scores using a clear rubric, helping students refine their craft and grow in confidence. No prior judging experience is required—virtual training is provided in advance, with additional training and available support on site.
Beyond the competitions, judges enjoy meaningful professional benefits:
- Complimentary conference registration
- Access to keynote addresses by national education leaders
- Opportunities to attend breakout sessions when not judging
- Professional development contact hours granted for training and on-site judging
- A front-row seat to one of the most inspiring education events of the year
The Educators Rising National Conference brings together 3,800+ of the best and brightest aspiring educators from across the country for four energizing days of learning, celebration, and connection. Judges consistently tell us they leave re-energized, hopeful, and reminded why they chose education in the first place.
Additional volunteer roles are also available, including room monitors, backup judges, on-site runners, and registration support.
If you believe in the power of teaching—and the importance of investing in those who will carry it forward—this is your moment.
Join us in Portland. Help shape the future of the profession.
