“It starts with us. It starts with me as a teacher. It starts with us as a school. It starts with us as future teachers, to build up our profession.”
Host John Hendron speaks with Becky Tomaso, a 32-year educator and Educators Rising teacher leader at Baldwin County Public Schools in Alabama. Tomaso used an Educators Rising travel scholarship to visit Portugal and France — then brought the trip straight into her classroom, from coastal-food comparisons to a fall project built around the places she’d been. She also talks about coaching her students to present at conference themselves, growing her program into its fifth year, and why she believes solving the teacher shortage starts with the profession itself.
