Educators Rising programs at the high school level are most effective when woven into a co-curricular program of study or elective courses held within the school day. When schools embed activities and resources available through Educators Rising into the curriculum of pre-collegiate teacher preparation programs, students will authentically experience teaching, build the skills they need to be successful educators, and sustain their interest in the profession.

Educators Rising programs can support efforts to:

  1. Broaden and strengthen teacher recruitment to meet local workforce needs, with a special emphasis on increasing diversity in the teaching profession, as well as developing teachers for high-needs subject areas like STEM, special education, and TESOL;
  2. Enhance career readiness;
  3. Elevate the image of the teaching profession;
  4. Cultivate and enhance P-12 and higher education partnerships;
  5. Raise the bar for what aspiring educators know and are able to do;
  6. Advance competency-based education through the Educators Rising micro-credential system; and
  7. Create opportunities for aspiring educators to lead without leaving the classroom by providing them the option to lead an Educators Rising program.

Educators Rising, formerly known as Future Educators Association, is officially recognized by the United States Department of Education as a career and technical student organization (CTSO) and can serve as a CTSO partner through activities and opportunities that are integral to teacher preparation-related CTE instructional programs.  Educators Rising is prepared to help assist states, districts, and schools in creating and supporting high-quality, pre-collegiate grow-your-own teacher pipeline programs.

Becoming a state affiliate requires a signed Memorandum of Agreement between Educators Rising and the sponsoring organization in the state, as well as acknowledgement of the state-wide program from the state department of education.
