Keep learning with Kappan
Posted on June 27, 2024

This year, your conference bag includes a free copy of the long-running magazine for educators: Kappan. The magazine is published by PDK International, the parent organization of Educators Rising. Since 1916, Kappan (also known as Phi Delta Kappan) has shared important education research, debates about education policy, and ideas for improving teaching practice. You can read a limited number of articles free each month at kappanonline.org.

How can you use Kappan in your chapter or class? PDK offers two resources for Educators Rising members. Log in through the member portal to access:

  1. A discussion guide connected to each issue
  2. A student edition of each issue, available on the student resources page.

On Monday at 9 a.m., PDK’s director of publications, Teresa Preston, will lead a session on how to use the Kappan discussion guides in your chapter or course. The session will be held in Capital/Congress room. Bring your copy of Kappan to the session to discuss the article, “Possibilities of Student Voice,” with fellow attendees!

Educators Rising students have the opportunity to be in future issues of Kappan as part of the Students Speak Up column. Check out the upcoming questions and deadlines.

Want more Kappan? You can receive full issues of Kappan by joining PDK International’s professional association. As part of the conference, we’re offering a 50% discount on PDK professional memberships. Sign up before July 31 and receive a year of Kappan at half the usual rate. Your year of Kappan will begin with our September issue on “Public Perception of Schools.”

To receive the discount, go to our online membership form and select the Professional membership option. Enter the discount code 24CONFPRO when checking out.
