Welcome to the first day of the Educators Rising Conference. Student competitions start at 1 p.m. If today isn’t your day to compete, consider cheering on your fellow students. The following competitions are open to spectators:
- Creative Lecture (Liberty I & J)
- Educators Rising Moment (Congress and Mint)
- Public Speaking (Supreme Court and Monument)
Check out the College and Innovation Fair from 1 – 5 p.m. in the Independence Foyer/Liberty M. Interact with representatives from colleges, universities, and organizations that want to help you achieve your goal to become an educator. Make sure to scan QR codes to help you win the scavenger hunt.
Discover new and useful information about the teaching profession at our opening breakout sessions starting at 2 p.m. Sessions include Engaging Students in Authentic Learning, Discovering Your Leadership Potential, and Developing Black High School Students to Be Educators.
At 7 p.m., head over to Marquis Ballroom for the opening general session. The Independence Ballroom is available for the overflow crowd. The keynote speaker is the 2023 National Teacher of the Year, Rebecka Peterson. The Tulsa, Oklahoma, math teacher highlights the stories of joy happening in classrooms across the country to help inspire current teachers and attract new educators to the profession.
